Medicine Hat Jr. Mavs start quest for Little League glory with win

The Medicine Hat U13 Jr. Mavs start their quest for a Canadian Little League Intermediate Championship on Wednesday.

The first game of the tournament for the Mavs was July 16 at 8:30 a.m. against Team Quebec.

The Mavs had a dominant 12-2 win to kick off the tournament.

They will play a game each day through Saturday before playoffs start next week on Tuesday, July 22.

The next contest is Thursday at 8:30 pm against Team Atlantic.

This is the second year a Medicine Hat team will represent Medicine Hat in Kingston at the national level.

Several players on the team this year came one win away from a national title at the U12 level last year.

A heartbreaking 10-1 loss to Team BC in the championship game of the tournament for the Mavs U12 AAA squad gave them silver, after taking top spot in the round robin.
