The library isn’t just for reading books. Several different opportunities go beyond that this month.

Here are the top five things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library in November 2026.

—

Fall Film Festival, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m., All Ages

Experience a collection of powerful films exploring belonging, friendship, and our fundamental need for connection. These stories remind us that even the simplest human connections can bring us together, help us feel seen and valued, and strengthen our sense of belonging. In partnership with What Matters to Hatters.

—

Scratch-a-Saurus Storycraft, Nov. 12, 6 p.m., Ages 7-9

Sign up for a hands-on dinosaur craft session celebrating Dinovember! We will create dino art with a scratch board that reveals a rainbow of colours beneath. Scratch, scrape, and scribble your way to a prehistoric masterpiece! A parent or adult caregiver must be present at all times during this program. Register at mhpl.info/register

—

Creating Compelling Characters, Nov. 12, 6 p.m., Ages 13-19

Learn how to take your characters to the next level when crafting a story with local young adult fantasy author Olivia M. Geib. Geib is the author of the Fire & Fury Trilogy: “The Daughter of Fire and Fury,” “The Princess of Secrets and Shadows,” and “The Queen of Ruin and Rebirth.” Register at mhpl.info/register

—

The Story Keeper’s Book Club, Nov. 24, 10 a.m., Adults

Engage with Indigenous literature while gaining community connections, in partnership with Miywasin Friendship Centre. The November pick is “From the Ashes” by Jesse Thistle. Copies of the book can be picked up at the Information Desk beginning Nov. 3. This book club is open and welcome to all. Register at mhpl.info/register

—

Books on Trial, Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m., All Ages
