Medicine Hat Tennis Club wraps up Summer Double Showdown

The Medicine Hat Tennis Club hosted the South Country Co-op Summer Double Showdown over several days wrapping up on Sunday.

Taking home top spot in the Women’s Open A event was Lauren Danroth and Dannan McElroy-O’Driscoll.

They defeated Coralee Riehl and Emilee Krushel in straight sets 6-2 and 6-2, with the competition closer than the final score, as many of the going went to duce.

The Women’s Open B side winners were Dawn Olson and Eryn Comeau, who beat Carla Thorogood and Lily Laurent 6-2, and 6-1.

The Mens Open A side was won over three sets including a tie break as Richard and Brent Meyer defeated the top seeded Craig and Niall Weich 2-6, 6-6 (tie break Meyer), 6-2.

The Mens Open B went to Riley Danroth and Jordan Schibler taking a 6-1 and 6-2 win over the father son duo of Mike and Messele Fentabil.

The Mens Intermediate had brother Theron and Lincoln Bensler winning over Vlad Khazov and Roman Bielyi 6-4 and 6-4.

Next up at the tennis club is the Summer Mixed Doubles tournament July 18-19.
