Potential sale of Monarch theatre on council agenda this evening

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat city council will consider a proposal to sell the Monarch Theatre when it meets tonight.

The sale price is $100,000, much less than what the city paid when it took over the property from the City Centre Development Agency in 2021.

That sale was necessary because the CCDA was dissolving that summer.

At the time, the CCDA owed the city $60,000, which was deducted from the sale price, meaning the city paid $145,000 in net costs.
