MEDICINE HAT, AB – Two young teenagers from here in Medicine Hat received some exciting news on Monday. Ethan Hall and Carter Allan were chosen to represent Alberta in ball hockey at the nationals tournament that is taking place in Newfoundland next week. Due to the suddenness of their invitation, the boys needed to quickly find a way to help fund the trip.

Fundraisers are being held to help with the costs over the course of this week. Hall and Allan are hosting a bottle drive to help with the funds and they are also looking to corporate sponsors for help as well. Money will go towards booking hotel rooms and getting the boys tickets to fly to Newfoundland.

Hall and Allan have played ball hockey since they were small kids and have loved every minute of playing the sport. Hall and Allan both play ice hockey, so to keep their hockey fix going year-round, ball hockey is a sport they can enjoy just as much as if they were skating on the ice.

Hall says that upon hearing the news that he and Allan were going to Newfoundland, they were beyond ecstatic.

“I started jumping around the room, I was so excited about it,” Hall said.

“It was pretty sweet. I was just doing some school work and Ethan texted me and told me that we got invited to go there, it was pretty exciting,” Allan added.

The tournament begins on Wednesday, July 26 and runs until July 29. Teams from the other nine provinces will be represented at the tournament.

Those who want to support Hall and Allan’s journey to Newfoundland can support their bottle drive or donate cash directly. Redi Bottle Depot has an account called Gas City Ball Hockey where people can donate their bottle money to their funding. You can contact their mothers, Kim Hall and Megan Allan on Facebook to get full details on how to support in other ways. You can also email Marina Hall at robandmarinahall@gmail.com.
