New recruits begin police training in Medicine Hat
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Fifteen police cadets began training this week in Medicine Hat.
The cadets are part of a collaborative partnership between the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS), Lethbridge Police Service (LPS), Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) and Lethbridge College (LC).
The class is made up of 10 MHPS cadets, three from the LPS, and two from MFNPS. The group will spend the next 24 weeks in an intensive training program. The goal is to provide the cadets with crucial skills related to policing including interpersonal problem solving, de-escalation, community service, public safety, and firearms.
