Big Marble Farms unveils drink in support of charity

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A new drink has hit the stampede grounds for fairgoers who may be looking for something other than root beer or lemonade to beat the Stampede heat.

Big Marble Farms has created Frest, a sparkling cucumber water beverage. The drink is the brainchild of Ryan Cramer, president of Big Marble Farms. It is made in-house, using the farms’ own cucumbers.

Jonathan Schow, vice-president of sales and marketing, says the company wanted a way to provide another way for stampeders to be able to keep cool.

“We know that stampede is always a time that’s really hot,” Schow says. “We set up the booth with the misters, and we thought having some of this Frest would be a great way to help people cool off during this time of year.”

Frest is currently only being sold on the Stampede grounds for just a dollar, and every cent will be put towards helping the Medicine Hat Mustard Seed.

Schow says it’s important for the company to do whatever it can to help support the local community.

“We want to give back to the community that’s been so good to us,” Schow says. “We’re a local grower, a lot of our produce is in the local markets you can go to, and all the retail outlets, and we feel like the community’s been good to us, and it’s a good opportunity to give back.”

Schow says the feedback has been positive so far.

“Everyone seems to be enjoying it, the price point is attractive to them as well. For a dollar, you can get this beverage and cool yourself off.”
