UPDATE: Police find man who assaulted officer during arrest

Please be advised that Nathan Canfield has been located and taken into custody.

MEDICINE HAT, AB – City police are asking the public for assistance to find a man who assaulted an officer during an attempted arrest.

According to the Medicine Hat Police Service, a member of the patrol section attempted to arrest Nathan Canfield, 37, on June 21 for breaching a court order.

Police say Canfield escaped after assaulting the officer with a weapon, resulting in an injury to the officer.

Canfield is described as having brown hair and blue eyes, and is about 5-foot-9 and weighing about 165 lbs.

Canfield is wanted for numerous criminal offences including:

  • Breach of probation
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Assault police officer causing bodily harm
  • Assault police officer with a weapon

Police ask anyone with information on Nathan Canfield’s whereabouts to contact the MHPS non-emergency line 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. If located, do not approach, or attempt to apprehend.
