REDCLIFF, AB – A Redcliff family is without a home after a fire broke out just after 12 p.m. on Friday.

The family says two people were in the home, in the 900 block of Second Street SE, at the time. They were able to get out without sustaining injuries.

They say they saw smoke from the basement and watched as a propane tank blew up.

Fire captain Dwight Kilpatrick told CHAT News the cause of the fire is unknown but it is believed to have started at the west side of the garage toward the back.

Kilpatrick said the home is structurally deficient, with the wall between the home and the garage completely gone.

Crews were still at the scene late on Friday afternoon.
