MEDICINE HAT, AB – Tigers assistant coach Josh Maser called Sunday’s win over the Red Deer Rebels a boost of belief to the club set to embark on their busiest stretch of the season.

Logan Barlage tallied back-to-back goals in the third period for Medicine Hat on home ice, his third and fourth of the weekend to help the Tigers rebound from Saturday’s loss to Calgary with a 3-2 victory against the Rebels.

Tigers netminder Beckett Langkow picked up his first win since October 22 with a 33 save performance against a potent Rebels squad that outshot the Tabbies 11-3 over the final 20 minutes.

Returning to the lineup on Sunday night, Noah Danielson made an immediate impact scoring off the wing 3:14 into the contest to give Medicine Hat the early lead for the second straight night.

It appeared as though Rebels veteran Arshdeep Bains was able to tie up the score at 1-1 in the early stages of the second, however the play was challenged by Tigers head coach Willie Desjardins for offside.

After review, it was determined that Bains was offside and the goal was called back.

That only lasted for a few minutes though, as Bains was able to pick up a Jackson van de Leest slap shot from the point and convert the wraparound to tie things up officially.

Tigers defenceman Bogdans Hodass saw his night come to a premature end midway through the second, as he was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct after delivering a cross-check on Red Deer forward Frantisek Formanek.

On the ensuing five-minute power play, Liam Keeler extended his goal scoring streak to eight games with a wrist shot beating Langkow top shelf.

Barlage was able to make his impact four minutes and change into the third frame, as his initial shot off the wing was stopped by the Rebels but was able to complete the wraparound to tie things up for the Tigers.

Just over five minutes later on Medicine Hat’s lone power play of the game, Barlage completed the comeback by tipping a shot past Connor Ungar for his second of the period and the go-ahead marker.

Red Deer’s attempt to find the tying goal with Ungar on the bench came up just short, as Langkow kept the door close to help the Tigers earn the 3-2 victory.

Tigers captain Daniel Baker had three assists for one of the most productive nights of his career offensively, while Barlage has almost doubled his goal totals with the Tigers compared to his first half of the season.

Four road games in five nights begins on Wednesday for the Tigers, as they take on the red-hot Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place with a 7:00 puck drop.
