IRVINE, AB – For years Marina Cole has wowed people with her chainsaw wood carvings.

Now she’s branching out by giving other artists, crafters and creators a place to show and sell their works.

Late last month, Cole, who may be better known by her business name Chainsaw Spirit, opened Chainsaw Spirit Gallery in Irvine. She sells the artwork of about 15 locals and has everything from paintings and leatherwork to knitting and carvings.

“It’s nice to have a place where you can do something you love and put it in here and have somebody else enjoy it as well,” said Cole. “And I think it feels good when you’re making and creating pieces and knowing that other people have that love for that piece you created and put so much time and effort into as well.”

“And I think that that would help inspire people to continue on I guess their art journey and keep on inspiring other people to do it. Because you have this passion and it’s so nice to share it with others.”

Cole’s chainsaw carvings can be seen in parks and on front lawns across our community.

Her work stands out more than most, but she says all artists deserve to have exposure and notoriety.

Cole says the community has supported her art so well she wants to give back. She says she is where she is because of this community.

“It’s been Medicine Hat area, Irvine. I am here because of all of you guys,” she said. “You’ve blessed me so much so I truly appreciate it and you keep blessing me every day walking in these doors and you know trying to help inspire others.”

Chainsaw Spirit Gallery is open 2-8 p.m. daily, located just off the highway on Wilhelm Street in Irvine.
