Cost of natural gas, electricity up again for November

Natural gas and electricity rates will rise for City of Medicine Hat utility customers in November

The monthly rates were posted by the city on Monday.

The natural gas rate has been set at $5.354 per gigajoule, up from $4.0225 in October.

The fixed-rate for 2021 is $3.50 per GJ.

Electricity customers will pay 10.635 cents per kilowatt-hour this month, up from 10.575 per kilowatt-hour in October.

The fixed-rate offered by the city is 6.800 cents per kilowatt-hour.

The monthly rates are determined based on the average set by other providers in the province.

The natural gas price is in the middle of the $5.380 set by Apex (formerly AltaGas) and the $5.328 set by Direct Energy.

The electricity price falls between the high of 10.806 cents set by Epcor (Edmonton) and the 10.483 cents set by Direct Energy Regulated Services.
