Oct 29, 2021 | 4:53 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The city will hold a viewing party for those who want to watch history made on Monday evening when Medicine Hat’s first-ever female mayor is sworn-in.

The ceremony will take place in council chambers but public seating will be limited due to COVID restrictions and to accommodate guests of council.

A live stream will be shown at the Esplanade Studio Theatre, with seating for 180 people. The doors will open at 6 p.m. with the live stream starting 30 minutes later. Underground parking will be available.

The Esplanade is participating in the Restrictions Exemption Program; proof of vaccination, an exemption or proof of a negative COVID test from the past 72 hours will be required for entry and masking will be mandatory during the event.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, an organizational meeting will be held where mayor-elect Linnsie Clark will make council appointments to standing committees.

We will also stream the ceremony on chatnewstoday.ca.
