Municipal Election Candidates Vie for Your Vote

In Their Own Words Part Four

Oct 6, 2021 | 9:54 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Municipal Election in Medicine Hat will feature the largest number of candidates in 20 years.

With so many names on the ballot, CHAT News Today has created a segment called “In Their Own Words” which is designed to help residents make an informed decision at the polls.

Candidates were asked for either a 60-second video or short written submission on why they believe Hatters should vote for them.

These are the candidates’ submissions CHAT News has received so far. More will be added as we receive them.

Alison Van Dyke

I will listen to residents’ needs and concerns and work to ensure fair, responsive and collaborative communication and decision making. I will do my best to make sure that decisions made are in the best interests of the overall community with an eye to fairness.

I will consider the costs and benefits and make the most fiscally and socially responsible decisions that I can. I will work to preserve and maximize public services and facilities including electric utilities, recreation and seniors facilities, and the library.

I have spent many years advocating for our community in relation to food security, public healthcare, education, and maintaining public ownership of our electric utilities. You can feel confident, given my history of community work and advocacy, that I will work hard for Medicine Hat. Please check out my website for more information on my platform: www.alisonvandyke.ca
