MEDICINE HAT, AB – Fans embraced cheering on the Medicine Hat Tigers in person on Saturday for the first time in 19 months.

But the city wants to remind the public that masking is still required indoors.

Of the 2,493 people in attendance, many were not wearing masks while in their seats. Current provincial restrictions require masking while indoors.

Trampas Brown, manager of guest experience and operations with the city, says masks can be taken off when actively eating or drinking.

Moving forward, the city will educate the public to make the rules are being followed at Co-op Place, as they want people to be comfortable in the venue.

“This is the first major event that we’ve had since COVID began so we’re really trying to work with the public to help them understand what it means,” Brown said. “The order says actively eating or drinking so to help them kind of understand what that means. We are working with the Tigers as well to develop some messaging for the upcoming game as well as making masks more available in the venue.”

There are many events to come at Co-op Place including the Tigers this Saturday and the Professional Bull Riders Canada’s Cup Series the following weekend.
