Canadian Armed Forces personnel, assets on the ground in Afghanistan
OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canadian Armed Forces assets and personnel have arrived on the ground in Afghanistan to co-ordinate at the tactical level with the United States and other allied partners.
Speaking on the campaign trail in Victoria, the Liberal party leader says this will help get Canadians, Afghans and their families to safety.
Trudeau says two CAF C-17s will make regular flights into Kabul to support evacuation efforts.
He says he met virtually yesterday with members of the Afghan Canadian community, alongside Defence Minster Harjit Sajjan, Gender Equality Minister Maryam Monsef and Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino.
