MEDICINE HAT, AB – With school out for summer, vacation time being booked and everyone itching for adventure and experiences, Tourism Medicine Hat is going all out to attract visitors to the area and get locals exploring their own back yard.

“We are focused on either bringing people here or having local people enjoy what we have here,” explains Mo Cranker, stakeholder engagement, Tourism Medicine Hat.

The worldwide tourism industry has taken a huge hit in the past 16 months, and that’s no different in southeastern Alberta.

Cranker says travel within the country is again a big thing this summer and there are a ton of great places to go around the province and around Canada.

“So it’s not about telling people to not go places but just about highlighting southeastern Alberta – Red Rock Coulee, Cypress Hills, we’ve got Medalta, we’ve got a great food scene, coffee scene,” he says. “It’s just for us about highlighting all of the great things here and letting people know who live here how much there is to do here. Even if it’s just a quick weekend stay at Gas City Campground or a quick trip to Elkwater, there’s tons to do.”

The #MyMHSummer campaign is back for another year to promote the beautiful destinations and wonderful local businesses. The Instagrammable locations promo showcases must-see photo spots in the area.

If you use the #MyMHSummer hashtag you could win prizes from Tourism Medicine Hat.

Well-known Canadian blogger and social media strategist Linda Hoang was recently here on a trip sponsored by Tourism Medicine Hat.

She has tens of thousands of followers on social media.

“She’s got a wide reach and bringing people here is one of the things we do and we hope that some of the people in Edmonton or Calgary or wherever else in the province read her blog and see the things to do in the city and come here and check it out,” Cranker says.
