Song to thank frontline workers means just as much one year later

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A few weeks into the pandemic last year frontline workers were celebrated with rounds of applause and people banging pots and pans on balconies.

Medicine Hat’s Eileen Wotschell wrote a song to show her appreciation.

“It was just so much happening right at the start and it still is so it’s still a very needed thing for people to hear … to feel appreciated and to know that what they’re doing is great and is helping everybody,” she says.

More than a year later the pandemic is not over, and Wotschell feels the same as she did back then.

“Everybody who’s pitching in and giving that helping hand or providing some care of some sort, they just need that heartfelt thank you,” she says. “It’s something that is dear to my heart knowing that people are giving of themselves and are working for others.”

The song is titled Thank You and is available on Wotschell’s eighth album What I Need. It is available digitally and she also has CDs and says people can contact her if they’ like a copy.

Her music can also be found at ewotschell.wordpress.com.

Wotschell has been writing music for about 20 years and playing for even longer. She plays in seniors’ homes and with church groups around the city.
