Tigers schedule released for opening two weeks of WHL season

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s only four games worth of certainty, but the Medicine Hat Tigers now know where they’ll be playing to begin the 2020-21 WHL season this month.

The Western Hockey League has released the first two weeks of scheduled games for the season for all five Alberta teams, including the Tigers who will face the Red Deer Rebels in their first home-and-home series of the season.

Medicine Hat will hit the road on February 26 for their first game in almost a year to battle the Rebels at 6:00 pm, before the series shifts back to the ‘Gas City’ the following night.

That February 27 meeting between Medicine Hat and Red Deer will be a special one, as Tigers play by play voice Bob Ridley will finally get the chance to call the 4,000th game of his storied career at 7:30 pm.

Ridley is currently sitting on 3,998 career games called and would have reached the milestone last March, however the season was shut down just days before that call.

Requiring five days between opponents, the Tigers next game will come on March 5 versus the Edmonton Oil Kings in the province’s capital, followed by the rematch at Co-Op Place the next night.

Medicine Hat and the other four Alberta teams will play a 24-game regular season, while the WHL has announced that they will be launching a new live-streaming service for fans in the coming weeks.
