Petey the American Staffordshire Terrier finds his forever home

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s a happy tale for a six-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier named Petey after being adopted by his foster family this month.

Petey and Rubble were abandoned in September of 2019 and were in rough shape at the time.

The pair were dropped off at Pet Park Boarding but the owner never came back for them.

Rubble was adopted last year and Petey was still waiting after a failed adoption.

But now, he has a new place to officially call home.

Rob Taylor had provided Petey a foster home since last spring.

Taylor says his schedule wouldn’t allow for a pet at the time, but work has been slow over the last year in the oil field.

As he transitions into a new business, Taylor has more time for a pet and was able to adopt Petey.

“He’s the greatest, he gets along with everybody. My nephews have been around him, he loves them. He’s just very friendly, very friendly. Just a good dog.”

Taylor says Petey loves his walks, pets, people, and curling up by the fire.

“I thought I was just going to stick to fostering at first and then just the way we got along great and everything and it was just time to take the plunge and get myself my own dog,” Taylor added.

Both Petey and Rubble were adopted through the Southern Alberta Humane Society.
