Feb 8, 2021 | 2:48 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Public School Division have job openings to fill for two high school principal positions.

The hires are for Hat High and Crescent Heights.

Hat High principal Boris Grisonich is retiring after 32 years of service with SD76; 13 of those years as Hat High principal.

Crescent Heights principal Kelly Pitman and his family are moving.

Mr. Pitman has been principal there for 2 years, and an administrator in the system for 4 according to Superintendent Mark Davidson.

The division advertises nationwide for the positions.

Davidson says there will be a number of candidates within the city who apply and all over the county as well.

He says hiring a principal is an important task to get right.

“School administration is a really challenging role, you realize once you become the principal of a school how many things you feel really responsible for and the level of ownership you take for making sure that things go well and that people feel cared for. It’s a big job, but having done it for a while, it’s probably one of the most rewarding jobs that you can have too,” Davidson said.

The application deadline is February 23.

Both positions will start at the beginning of the 2021/22 school year.
