Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede names new general manager

MEDICINE HAT — The board of directors of the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede has named a new general manager.

Kara Brake will assume the position on February 16th – following the retirement of current g-m Jim MacArthur.

Brake has been serving as general manger for the Medicine Hat Sport and Event Council and was Director of Marketing for the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Medicine Hat in November of 2019.

Brake says she decided to apply for the position when it was announced that current General Manager Jim MacArthur would be retiring.

She says the Stampede company has a rich history and reputation in Medicine Hat, and she looks forward to the challenge.

But never, in her wildest imagination, when enjoying good times on the grounds, did she think she would some day be in charge of the Stampede.

“Its been a place that I’ve made many great memories, and now looking at it, it’s pretty cool to be able to be in that position as the general manager for an organization that big” says Brake.

Brake says her previous experience in attracting events to Medicine Hat through the Medicine Hat Sport and Event Council will serve her well, as she looks to help the Stampede company grow by hosting new events at the grandstand and other buildings on the grounds.
