Lethbridge man sentenced to three years on child pornography charges

chatLETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge man guilty of child luring and child pornography has learned his fate.

ALERT arrested Darcy Heitman, 28, in December 2019.

Their Internet Child Exploitation Unit said he had engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with children, who he then coerced into sending him nude photographs.

In Lethbridge Provincial Court on Monday, February 1, he was sentenced to three years in prison.

He was given two years on the charge of child luring, two months consecutive on the charge of theft under $5,000, and 10 months consecutive on the charge of making, printing, publishing, or possessing for the purpose of publishing child pornography.

Heitman will be required to submit a DNA sample to the National Sex Offender Registry.

He also faces several conditions that prevent him from having contact with minors.
