MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat business owner wants to help fellow business o

wners through the pandemic and bring something new to downtown.

Ingrid Sebas, owner of Glitter Junky in the Arcade Plaza, is working to set up a permanent year-round market at the Plaza.

It will be for everyone from bakers and crafters to antique sellers, says Sebas.

People who register for booths are able to leave them up and operate them each week from Thursday to Sunday during the market’s hours.

There will be room for 17 booths and possibly five tables, says Sebas. A table will also be set up for one local non-profit organization to have for free each weekend.

Sebas says small businesses and home-based businesses have been struggling over the past 10 months and she wants to help generate income for them.

She’s been quietly inquiring in the business community and the response has been good so far.

“We’re at about half capacity right now, we will always look for people,” says Sebas. “Anything is possible. It doesn’t matter what you do, we will work with you. Let’s say a baker for instance you could only do the weekends and we will make that work.”

An information will be held at the Arcade Plaza Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sebas hopes to open the market on the last weekend in February.
