🚎 Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour, fuelled by South Country Co-op, is running multiple times this weekend in Medicine Hat.

The tours offer an in-depth guided experience led by local Medicine Hat residents, highlighting the history of neighbourhoods, streets, and some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Stops along the route will give passengers the chance to hop off and briefly explore key areas before continuing the tour.

Pick-up is at the Visitor Information Centre at 330 Gehring Rd. SW

Children 12 and under ride free thanks to sponsorship from the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Tickets are required and available online at the Tourism Medicine Hat website.

Tours are about 90 minutes and are scheduled Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Sunday at 10 a.m.

🌾 Grains to Glory Festival

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Grains to Glory Festival takes place at 1222 Allowance Ave. SE on Friday and Saturday on the site of the former Ogilvie Flour Mill.

Friday’s event is adult-only and requires a ticket available only through tixx.ca while quantities last. It’s the Dead Man’s Dinner with the Whodunnit Players of Medicine Hat, with a Wild West murder mystery. There will be live music by HYENA following dinner. Gates open at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, the gates open to the public at 11 a.m.

There will be the Rusty Rails Market, Beer Gardens, Food Trucks, a Kids Zone, Bouncy Castles, Face Painting, Kids Arm Sleeve Temporary Tattoos, a Bucket Golf Course with a $10,000 hole-in-one shot, and the Big Brother Big Sisters Dunk Tank.

The event also includes a variety of musicians performing from the start until the gates close at 2 a.m.

Admission is free for the event, but they are collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations for the Root Cellar.

🚗🎸 Cars and Guitars

SATURDAY

Cars and Guitars is back for another year at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds.

The Car Show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volcano, a tribute to Jimmy Buffett, will be on the grandstand stage in the evening. The HalfKatz will open up starting at 8 p.m.

🚶 Historic First Street Southwest Walking Tours

SATURDAY

The Historic First Street Southwest Walking Tour takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m.

You can take a step back in time with the guided tour that explores a different side of the city’s history, following First Street Southwest beyond Medicine Hat’s original boundaries into what was once homestead land. Guides share local stories and personal memories that highlight the neighbourhood’s unique character.

The tour begins at 78 First Street SW, lasts about one hour and includes a complimentary walking guide.

Participants should be prepared for uneven walking surfaces and outdoor conditions.

Space is limited; advance registration is recommended, and tours may be rescheduled because of weather or low registration.

🏁 Dean Wakshinsky Memorial Race

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Speedway host the Dean Wakshinsky Memorial Race on Saturday.

Gates open at 5 p.m., and the green flag drops at 6 p.m.

Classes featured at the race day include Mini Cups, V6, Baby Grands, Hobby Stocks and Elite Streets.

Tickets available at the gate are $20 for adults, $15 for Seniors 65 and older, $10 for Youth aged 11 to 17, and $5 for those 10 and under.

A family pass that includes two adults and three youth or children is $50.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host the Moose Jaw Miller Express for Game 2 of the Western Canadian Baseball League’s East Division Semi-Finals on Saturday.

It is the only game at Athletic Park in the best-of-three series. First pitch is at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets are available online or at the Athletic Park box office.

If the Mavs move on, the East Final will be played between Aug. 11-13.

🕺Rooftop Disco

SATURDAY

Music lovers can dance the night away above downtown Medicine Hat this Saturday during the Rooftop Silent Disco at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre.

The 18-plus event features three live DJs spinning music from different decades, with guests using wireless headphones to switch between channels featuring hits from the ’70s and ’80s, the ’90s and 2000s, and today’s chart-toppers.

Organizers are also encouraging attendees to dress in their favourite decade-inspired outfits for a chance to win one of three 100-dollar Best Dressed prize packages.

The party begins at 8:30 p.m., with an official after-party at The Yard following the rooftop event.

🚶 Walking History of Saratoga Trail

SUNDAY

Residents can learn about the history of Saratoga Park during a guided tour led by former community members Pat Aaker and her daughter, April.

The pair will share stories about growing up in what was once a vibrant Métis community, reflecting on their family, neighbours and life in the area before the community disappeared in the early 2010s.

The experience includes a round-trip ride aboard the Sunshine Trolley from the Visitor Information Centre to Saratoga Park.

Participants should be prepared for uneven, unpaved terrain and wear suitable walking shoes.

The tour is weather dependent and may be cancelled if rain is in the forecast.

It departs from 330 Gehring Rd. SW on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Tickets are available through Tourism Medicine Hat.

📓 Medicine Hat Interpretive Program – Nature Journal: Part Two

SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is inviting residents to explore nature through a journaling mini-series at Police Point Park.

The next session runs on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Nature Centre and introduces participants to a naturalist and scientific approach to nature journaling, with a focus on observing the outdoors and building a deeper connection with nature.

Registration is required, and a one-time $10 donation includes a journal and art supplies for the series.

Organizers say the donation will also be matched by up to 50 per cent through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink.

Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, a water bottle, sunscreen and dress for the weather.
