Alberta Health Services has released its report on COVID-19 for Monday, detailing statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,240 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 91,459. Of those, 19,165 cases are active while 71,434 people have recovered.

Approximately 78 per cent of the new infections were in the Edmonton and Calgary Zones as they saw 525 and 448 positive tests respectively.

Meanwhile, just 19 contracted the virus in the South Zone, which is one of the lowest single-day regional amounts we have seen in many weeks.

Locally, six people each in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat tested positive. Several local geographic areas saw no increase since Sunday’s story.

Active infections have fallen as well, decreasing across the South Zone by 122 from the same time last week.

Since yesterday’s update, nine Albertans have died from COVID-19 with eight of those in the Edmonton Zone and one in the Calgary Zone.

Provincially, 795 patients are currently hospitalized and 151 have been admitted to intensive care.
