REDCLIFF, AB – Four people associated with the Redcliff Legion are in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Redcliff Legion has remained closed since Tuesday, Oct. 27, and the Legion is not expected to reopen until at least Nov. 13.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 president Peter Devlin confirmed the positive cases to CHAT News on Sunday. The four positive cases are connected to volunteers or members of staff who worked together.

The legion received notice of the first positive case on Thursday, Oct. 29.

“All of the staff and all of the volunteers were tested. Some of them came back as negative, some of them came back as positive. It ended up being that four people were positive,” said Devlin.

All performers, groups, and users of the facility have been notified.

With four confirmed cases of COVID-19, the legion’s president told CHAT NEWS, they will not be having a Remembrance Day Service due to safety.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 is working alongside AHS to conduct contact tracing and to ensure proper protocols are followed.

Once the Legion reopens to the public Devlin told CHAT News enhanced sanitization protocols and mask use requirements will be in effect.

” You will be wearing a mask. Whether you are staff or patrons, you will be wearing a mask unless you are eating or drinking,” said Devlin.
