MEDICINE HAT AB- Community organizations that are working to support seniors dealing with the pandemic are being encouraged to apply for funding through the federal New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Under the program, organizations are welcome to submit project proposals that offer COVID-19 relief and recovery activities for seniors. Organizations are still able to submit traditional proposals for New Horizons Seniors program projects that they plan to administer in 2021-2022

Initiatives must meet national priorities which include:

– Supporting healthy ageing

-Preventing elder abuse and fraud

-combating ageism, celebrating diversity, and promoting inclusion

-Improving Seniors access to government services and benefits

-Adapting community-based organizations to a more virtual environment

“Seniors continue to make valuable contributions to our country. Right now, they need our support more than ever. That is why I am pleased to invite community organizations to apply for funding through this year’s call for proposals and submit projects that can help seniors during or after the pandemic,” MP Glen Motz said in a press release statement.

Details on how to apply can be found

here.

Projects can receive up to $25,000 in grant funding.
