Beef Pen Show & Cowboy Christmas latest event cancelled

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The 23rd annual Beef Pen and Cowboy Country Christmas Trade Show is the latest event to be cancelled this year.

The event usually wraps up the year for the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.

And it would have taken place on December 18 and 19.

General Manager Jim MacArthur says the biggest factor of the decision was simply available space.

As well as the complication of entrances and the number of people in attendance for physical distancing requirements.

MacArthur says staff and the committee tried hard to figure out a way to make it go on, but it’s just not in the cards this year.

“We’ve had the good fortune over the years of having the show grow and grow to the point where we’re occupying all three halls in the Cypress Centre plus outside space. And so with some events and the farmers market would be an example, we actually had another hall that we could extend into. With the pen show and Cowboy Christmas, that really was not an option.”

MacArthur thanks their volunteers and staff for the hard work.

And wish their partners the best during these unprecedented times.

Meantime, the Medicine Hat Chamber made the decision back in May to cancel the 2020 Great West Home & Leisure Show that was scheduled for October at the stampede grounds.
