COVID-19 ASSESSMENT TOOL

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Alberta Health Services has launched an online tool to help Albertans determine whether they require testing for COVID-19.

The test is available at www.ahs.ca/covid which takes users through steps regarding symptoms to determine whether they should call Health Link at 811.

“AHS teams have come together to ensure we are protecting each other and keeping Albertans healthy and safe. Health Link is an important tool for Albertans right now,” said Dr. Verna Yiu, AHS president in a Friday afternoon release. “Our staff are working to respond quickly to those who need to be assessed for COVID-19. This tool can help us reduce call volumes, keep the lines open for those with serious symptoms and reassure those Albertans who don’t need testing right now.”

Those who need to call Health Link are being asked to be patient as call volume is heavy.

Provincial officials stated Friday they are increasing resources to Health Link but are suggesting those requiring to contact the service to do so during the overnight hours when volumes aren’t so high.
