Try, try again: Manitoba Tories blocked from tabling budget back at legislature

Mar 12, 2020 | 2:18 AM

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government is to try again today to introduce its budget after the Opposition blocked it from being tabled.

The Progressive Conservatives planned to introduce its annual spending plan in the legislature yesterday, but the New Democrats used procedures to stall the document.

NDP members talked for hours until the clock ran out at the end of the afternoon.

Premier Brian Pallister cancelled a trip to the first ministers meeting in Ottawa, saying his priority is now staying home.

The NDP says it will attempt again to delay the budget.

NDP Leader Wab Kinew says his caucus is mostly focused on stopping the government from getting 20 new bills passed into law.
