Brooks man charged following fatal collision in June

BROOKS, AB — Brooks RCMP have charged a 52-year-old man in connection with a fatal collision that occurred in June.

RCMP have confirmed Gavin Petrie of Brooks has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm in connection with the crash on June 3.

According to a release from the RCMP at the time of the collision, a pickup truck heading south on Range Road 150 collided with an SUV travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The driver of the SUV, a 72-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital.
