Youth arrested in connection with alleged robbery

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat Police have arrested and charged a 15-year-old male in connection with a robbery at the Carry Drive 7-11 last week.

According to police, the youth is in custody awaiting charges of robbery with a firearm (or imitation) and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence. The youth is currently awaiting a bail hearing to determine his conditions if released from custody.

The youth’s identity cannot be released due to his age.

Police say the robbery occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. on September 30. The youth, wearing a gorilla mask, allegedly produced a weapon and demanded cash from the staff member on duty, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise. There were no physical injuries sustained in the robbery.
