MONTREAL, QB – For the second time in her career, Sage Watson is a Canadian champion in the 400 metre hurdles.

Competing at the 2019 Canadian Track and Field Championships in Montreal, Watson dominated the field to win gold with a time of 56.34.

Watson left no doubt in the final heat on Sunday morning, beating fellow Team Canada member Noelle Montcalm by close to two seconds.

It’s the second career gold medal at nationals for the Seven Persons hurdler, after setting the Canadian Championships record back in 2017 with a time of 54.97 seconds.

She’s now picked up four career medals at the national event, winning silver and bronze in the 400 metre hurdles in 2016 and 2015 as well.

With the win, Watson has booked her place on Team Canada’s roster for the 2019 IAAF World Championships which will be held in Doha, Qatar in late September.
