Bow Island records Canada’s warmest temperature Thursday as cold snap approaches

Oct 23, 2026 | 7:23 AM

Bow Island recorded Canada’s highest temperature Thursday, reaching 25 C, as a sharp cooldown is expected to bring much colder conditions to southeastern Alberta.

Early Friday, Irvine recorded the country’s highest temperature at 18.5 C.

The warm readings are expected to give way to significantly cooler weather across the region, with Medicine Hat forecast to reach an afternoon high of just 2 C on Friday.

Temperatures across southeastern Alberta are expected to remain in the single digits before dropping below freezing over the weekend.

Snow is also forecast by Environment Canada in Medicine Hat on Friday evening.

The change marks a significant shift from Thursday’s summer-like temperatures in Bow Island.

Residents should prepare for colder conditions heading into the weekend and check the latest local forecasts for updates.
