Southeast Alberta sees stronger support for separation during referendum than provincial average
The desire to separate was stronger in southeast Alberta than the provincial average. However, the majority still voted to remain part of Canada.
All Alberta referendum polls are now reporting for the Cypress-Medicine Hat riding.
A total of 24,837 votes were cast in the riding on Question 10, which asked, “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada, or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”
Votes to remain in Canada totalled 16,921, with 7,916 voting to hold a second referendum on separation.
