A 48-year-old Medicine Hat man has been charged in connection with a series of break-ins at rural industrial sites in the Leader RCMP detachment area in Saskatchewan.

Leader RCMP said Wednesday that Brian Aske faces eight charges following an investigation into break-ins reported between September and October 2026.

Police said tools and copper wire were among the items reported stolen from the industrial sites.

The investigation included collecting evidence at each scene, according to an RCMP news release.

On Oct. 8, the Medicine Hat Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on Redwood Place Southeast in Medicine Hat as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers seized a large quantity of copper wire and other items, and arrested two people.

Through a joint investigation, police determined one of the arrested individuals was connected to break-ins in the Leader RCMP detachment area.

Aske is charged with two counts of break and enter and commit theft, two counts of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief over $5,000 and three counts of mischief under $5,000.

Mounties said Aske is currently in custody in Alberta on charges laid in that province.

Court details for the Saskatchewan charges are pending.

Leader RCMP thanked the Medicine Hat Police Service for its assistance with the investigation.

The charges have not been proven in court.
