Medicine Hat Tigers rematch Lethbridge Hurricanes in home opener

Sep 19, 2026 | 11:49 AM

Following a 5-2 opening night victory, the Medicine Hat Tigers will look to improve to 2-0 as they welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes to the ‘Hat for their 2026 home opener.

The Tigers spoiled the Hurricanes’ home opener last night with a three-goal win, and the ‘Canes will aim to return the favour tonight.

Last night’s victory marked the 21st consecutive win over the Hurricanes (including pre-season and playoff games) dating back to December 15th, 2024.

Josh Evaschesen led the Tigers with a pair of goals, while Arvid Drott and Kadon McCann each had multi-point nights.

Carter Casey was stellar in the win for the Tigers, making several key saves early in the game, allowing the Tabbies to find their game and the eventual win.

The Tigers have won their last four home openers, with their last defeat coming on October 2nd, 2021, against the Swift Current Broncos.

Tonight marks the first of just five home games for the Tigers between now and November 13th as the club opens the season with 12 of 17 games on the road.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MST tonight from inside Co-op Place, with the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 on WILD 94.5 FM.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Co-op Place box office or online at Tixx.ca
