Small, Hunter score in first half to lead lead AFC Toronto to 2-0 win over Tides

HALIFAX — Nikki Small and Kaylee Hunter scored as AFC Toronto beat the Halifax Tides 2-0 in Northern Super League action Sunday.

Small scored her first goal of the season in the 20th minute. Hunter scored on a penalty 12 minutes later for her eighth goal of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo faced 17 shots, one on target, and posted her fourth clean sheet in six games since joining the team.

Halifax keeper Anika Toth faced 11 shots, with three on target.

Toronto (17-8-5) remains third in the NSL standings with 28 points and owns the league’s best road record at 7-2-1.

Halifax ( 17-6-8) is fifth, one point behind Vancouver for the fourth and final playoff spot.
