Gleichen RCMP respond to collision with combine, leaving Siksika resident dead

Gleichen RCMP responded to a vehicle collision on Thursday involving an SUV and a combine south of Cluny that left a 41-year-old Siksika First Nation resident dead.

Mounties responded to the crash on Highway 842 at about 4:55 p.m., with police, EMS, fire crews and a Siksika peace officer attending the scene.

The SUV held three occupants at the time of the collision, with the driver taken to a Calgary hospital in serious condition, while the front passenger suffered minor injuries.

The rear passenger, a 41-year-old resident of Siksika First Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the combine was not injured.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

RCMP offered condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
