Brooks RCMP remind public of crosswalk safety after child cyclist collision
Brooks RCMP are reminding motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution at intersections and crosswalks after a vehicle struck a child riding a bicycle on a crosswalk.
Mounties say officers, along with EMS, firefighters and peace officers, responded to the collision at about 4:30 p.m. on July 24 at the intersection of 2 Street W and 1 Avenue W.
Investigators determined a 2026 Honda CR-V was turning right onto 2 Street W. when it collided with a 10-year-old cyclist crossing in the crosswalk.
The child suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
