Methanex Corporation is donating $25,000 to the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society to support facility upgrades at its second-stage shelter, Musasa House.

The contribution was announced during a cheque presentation event hosted by Methanex in Medicine Hat as part of its community giving investment program.

The funding will go toward converting an under-used area at Musasa House into a dedicated laundry space for residents.

The project will include the installation of five stacking laundry machines, a sink, a folding table and a play area for children while parents use the facility.

The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society says the upgrade will improve access to a basic but essential service for families staying at the shelter.

Musasa House provides long-term, safe accommodation for up to one year, along with wraparound supports, including one-to-one and group programming for families fleeing violence and abuse.

The organization says it served more than 750 victims of family violence in 2025-26.

Methanex says the donation is part of its ongoing community investment program aimed at supporting local charitable organizations.
