Inaugural Event

Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce to host State of the Region address in May

Apr 14, 2026 | 10:49 AM

The Southeast Alberta (SEAB) Chamber of Commerce is launching its inaugural State of the Region address.

This will be a renewed and expanded format from the historic State of the City address.

The new format is designed to reflect the Chamber’s growing regional role and will take place in May.

It will bring together municipal leaders from across the Medicine Hat–Cypress region to share their strategic priorities and vision for the future.

The event has confirmed participation from three mayors.

Linnsie Clark with the City of Medicine Hat, Dan Hamilton with Cypress County, and Chris Czember with the Town of Redcliff.

With each council completing its strategic planning sessions in Quarter One of 2026. The Chamber says this will allow the business community an opportunity to hear directly from decision-makers on the direction and opportunities shaping southeast Alberta’s economic landscape.

“Our State of the Region event for Cypress-Medicine Hat reflects a similar event hosted in the Brooks-Newell region, and represents a regional approach that acknowledges how closely our communities and economies are connected,” SEAB Chamber of Commerce Board President Aaron Fleming said.

“By bringing each of our Mayors together in this region, we’re providing a broader and more meaningful look at the initiatives, challenges, and opportunities that will influence these municipalities over this Council term and shape the future of how our region will grow.”

Transitioning to a State of the Region event is something the Chamber says will allow it to deliver programming that aligns with its advocacy, regional development, and the collective priorities of the business community.

The Chamber adds that the timing of the event takes into consideration the strategic planning timeframes of each municipal council to ensure the business community hears firsthand the strategic priorities of this municipal Council term, following the strategic planning sessions recently held in each municipality.

This event is something the Chamber says will also serve as a vital platform for understanding how regional strategies intersect and how collaboration across municipal boundaries can support long‑term prosperity.

It takes place in downtown Medicine Hat at Beveridge Landmark Events on May 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Information on registering for this event is available on the Chamber website.
