The Canadian Press nominated for seven National Newspaper Awards
TORONTO — The Canadian Press has been nominated for seven National Newspaper Awards, including for its breaking news coverage of last year’s attack at the Lapu Lapu street festival in Vancouver.
Finalists have been announced in 26 categories, with 99 individual journalists and seven larger team submissions nominated for their work in 2025.
The Globe and Mail leads the nominations with 19, including two nods for business reporting and one for investigations, while La Presse nabbed 13 nominations and the Toronto Star received eight.
CP photographer Darryl Dyck is nominated for two awards: news photo of the year for his image of a candlelight march in Vancouver for victims of the Lapu Lapu attack, and sports photo for a celebratory shot at the Canadian Championship soccer quarterfinal.
