First recall petition against Opposition NDP politician withdrawn; Elections Alberta
Elections Alberta says a recall petition against a member of Alberta’s Opposition NDP has been withdrawn.
The petition against education critic Amanda Chapman came late last year after more than a dozen similar campaigns were launched against members of the governing United Conservative caucus.
Elections Alberta says the petition against Chapman was withdrawn last week just ahead of its three-month deadline for collecting signatures.
The person behind the petition had previously said it was launched over Chapman’s support for public sector unions such as the Alberta Teachers’ Association, which went on strike last fall.
