Brooks RCMP received information on March 10, 2026, that Cole Johnson-Whitfield was in the City of Brooks despite court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from entering the city.

Police were described the vehicle he was seen in and began searching the area where it was last spotted.

The RCMP then attended the residence of a known associate of Johnson-Whitfield on the west end of Brooks and conducted a door knock.

While speaking with the homeowners, officers located a vehicle matching the description parked in the back alley, where shortly after, Johnson-Whitfield was located and arrested.

At the time of his arrest, Johnson-Whitfield was found to be carrying a knife, contrary to the conditions.

As a result of an investigation, Cole Johnson‑Whitfield has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, and uttering threats.

Johnson-Whitfield has been remanded into custody to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Medicine Hat on March 19, 2026.
