City of Medicine Hat launches MHTapp, an updated transit app

Mar 12, 2026 | 10:24 AM

An updated mobile app launched by the City of Medicine Hat on Thursday allows transit users to plan and book both regular and on-demand transit trips.

MHTapp replaces the MHTnow app and combines Medicine Hat Transit’s regular and on-demand transit services into an all-in-one travel hub.

“Medicine Hat Transit is committed to providing quality tools which support reliability and value for our riders in everything we do,” said the City of Medicine Hat manager of transit services, Gordon Dykstra.

“With the launch of the MHTapp, we’re making transit simpler, smarter, and more connected. This gives our riders the freedom to plan their journey with confidence and make transit travel across the city more efficient than ever.”

Transit users can download the mobile app or choose an online desktop version to suit their trip-planning needs.

Once users access MHTapp, planning a trip is a simple process.

It begins with entering the starting point and destination of the trip, with several trip options provided.

The bus stop locations and departure times will show up, allowing users to select the trip that suits their schedule.

App notifications will then let the user know when to expect the bus and where to wait.

They can also track their bus or receive a text to know when it will arrive in real time.

The app also has additional rider alerts and live updates, including road conditions, schedule changes, and regular route adjustments.

Informing transit users of the latest service impacts.
