Seattle Sounders sign young forward Osaze De Rosario to new long-term deal

SEATTLE — Osaze De Rosario, son of Canada Soccer Hall of Famer Dwayne De Rosario, has signed a new contract with the Seattle Sounders through the 2028-29 season with club options for 2029-30.

The 24-year-old forward originally signed with the MLS team in May 2025, moving up from Seattle’s reserve Tacoma Defiance side. At the time, De Rosario was leading the MLS Next Pro league with eight goals through five matches.

He was named the first-ever winner of the Sounders’ Pathway Player of the Year award in 2025 after scoring 12 goals for Tacoma and five for Seattle.

De Rosario signed with Tacoma before the 2024 MLS Next Pro season. Prior to that, he played for York United FC (now Inter Toronto FC) of the Canadian Premier League from 2022-2023, recording 19 goals and six assists in all competitions in 57 appearances.

Before York, he spent time in both Toronto FC’s and New York City FC’s academies and had his first pro stint with Ukranian club Rukh Lviv.

Born in San Jose while his father played for the Earthquakes, De Rosario plays internationally for Guyana.

His younger brother Adisa De Rosario is Toronto FC’s third-string goalkeeper.

Dwayne De Rosario, now 47, scored 22 goals in 81 appearances for Canada.

Named one of the MLS’s 25 Greatest in 2020, he scored 104 goals for San Jose, Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC (in two stints), New York Red Bulls and D.C. United.

A six-time member of the MLS Best XI, he was named the MLS Most Valuable Player and won the Golden Boot Award in 2011. A four-time winner of MLS Cup, he was twice named MLS Cup MVP (2001, 2007). A seven-time MLS all-star, he also won the Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup.

Also Tuesday, Seattle signed Nouhou, Alex Roldan and Danny Musovski to new deals.

Nouhou and Roldan are signed through the 2028-2029 season with club options for 2029-2030 while Musovski is under contract through the 2027-2028 campaign, with a club option for 2028-2029.

“Securing Nouhou, Alex, Danny and Osaze is an important step in maintaining continuity within our roster,” Seattle GM and chief soccer officer Craig Waibel said in a statement. “Nouhou and Alex have been core members of this group for years and understand the standard that comes with representing this club.

“Danny and Osaze both showed last season that they can be impactful attacking players in our league. Rewarding players who have performed and committed themselves to the team is a priority for us, and we’re pleased to keep this group together as we continue building toward our goals.”
