Medicine Hat Mayoral and Council candidates combined to spend over $258k during 2025 election

The campaign disclosures have come out for Medicine Hat’s 2025 Municipal Election.

In total, just under $258,500 was spent by the six mayoral and 39 council candidates.

Mayoral candidate Drew Barnes was the biggest spender at just over $53,500 in expenses.

The council candidate with the most expenses at just over $11,500 is Yusuf Mohammed. He also earned the most votes.

Mark Fisher was the only mayoral candidate with no expenses, also receiving the fewest votes.

There were five council candidates with no expenses. Dan Reynish was the only one of those who was voted in.

Average spend per candidate $17,259.68.

Council Candidates

Total spend by 39 Council candidates $154,930.60.

Average spend per candidate $3,972.58.

Total spend by all candidates $258,488.70.
