Taber man charged with child porn & firearms offences

The Taber Police Service (TPS) has charged a man with a variety of offences.

On Feb. 11, 2026, members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s South Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit, in partnership with the TPS, searched a home on the 4600 block of 51 Avenue in Taber.

Officers allegedly seized multiple improperly-stored firearms, as well as child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.

David Koethler, 35, of Taber, is charged with:

  • Transmitting, making available, distributing or selling child sexual and exploitation material
  • Possessing child sexual and exploitation material
  • Accessing child sexual and exploitation material
  • Unlawful storage of firearms

Following a bail hearing, Koethler was released from custody with multiple conditions. He is set to appear in court in Taber on April 7, 2026.
